Bridport House, Hackney

Designed as the first phase of the Colville Estate Regeneration for Hackney Council, Karakusevic Carson Architects were appointed following a design competition from the London Borough of Hackney’s Architectural Framework Panel. The brief was to design a new building to provide 41 socially rented affordable homes. The first wave of council homes to be built by Hackney for 45 years.

Claredale Street, Bethnal Green

The project occupies the site of Bradley House, an 8 storey slab block that failed socially and structurally 20 years ago. Our proposal occupies a site bounded by Keeling House, the 1960’s designed Grade II Listed housing tower by Denys Lasdun, the Mansford Estate to the West and a combination of 4-6 storey warehouse and mansion buildings fronting Mansford Street. The scheme provides 77 new homes of mixed tenure, 40 of which are new affordable family homes.

The Colville Estate, Hackney

Karakusevic Carson Architects were appointed by the London Borough of Hackney to develop a masterplan for the Colville Estate, a predominantly Local Authority Estate of 5 Hectares. The project has been orchestrated by KCA in collaboration with Mae Architects and with MUF to develop the public realm and landscaping.

The Aberfeldy Estate

1300 new homes and new masterplan on a site with density 520 hectares for Poplar Harca Housing Association and Wilmott Dixon Construction. Karakusevic Carson and Levitt Bernstein Architects were selected from the Poplar Harca Architects and Masterplanning Framework to develop the outline Planning Scheme (prepared by Maccreanor Lavington & Casey Fierro.)

The Faircharm Estate, Deptford

Karakusevic Carson have been appointed to design a major arts and workspace building combined with mixed tenure housing to complement the Deptford Creek creative quarter. The buildings will contain galleries, studios, workshops and creative office space alongside managed live/work space.

Greenwich Millenium Village

Karakusevic Carson worked in a team led by world renowned masterplanners, EDAW/Aecom, and also Maccreanor Lavington Architects on the competition for the Greenwich Millenium Village site in London. The entry won second place in the national competition.

Wenford Dries, Cornwall

Wenford Dries is a 10,000 m2 conversion of a former China Clay Factory in an area of natural outstanding beauty in Cornwall. The building is reported to be the longest listed building in the UK and has been derelict for 15 years.

The Ladderswood Estate

A competition entry with Maccreanor Lavington Architects, looking at 1960’s estate regeneration and providing 640 new dwellings to assist London and Quadrant Housing Association and Barratt Homes in a selection process.
