Bridport House, Hackney
Designed as the first phase of the Colville Estate Regeneration for Hackney Council, Karakusevic Carson Architects were appointed following a design competition from the London Borough of Hackney’s Architectural Framework Panel. The brief was to design a new building to provide 41 socially rented affordable homes. The first wave of council homes to be built by Hackney for 45 years.

The project occupies the site of Bradley House, an 8 storey slab block that failed socially and structurally 20 years ago. Our proposal occupies a site bounded by Keeling House, the 1960’s designed Grade II Listed housing tower by Denys Lasdun, the Mansford Estate to the West and a combination of 4-6 storey warehouse and mansion buildings fronting Mansford Street. The scheme provides 77 new homes of mixed tenure, 40 of which are new affordable family homes.

The project has been orchestrated by KCA in collaboration with Mae Architects and with MUF to develop the public realm and landscaping.
