In 2025 we were privileged once more to have our work featured in the Royal Academy’s Summer Show through the inclusion of a new model of our community centre at the St Raphael’s Estate in Brent, North-west London.
Curated by architects Stephanie Macdonald and Tom Emerson with Farshid Moussavi, the show – for the first time in its 250+ year history – blended architecture across fourteen rooms rather than limit it to its own separate space. Responding to the theme of Dialogues the aim of this move was to ‘create conversations with art’ and acknowledge the broader role of architecture within our cultural discourse.
Amidst prints, paintings, films, sculptures and photographs, our St Raphael’s Community Centre took pride of place in the show’s Lecture Room as part of a big central display of models by leading practices and studios.
Created by our in-house workshop team and entitled A Place for Storytelling – Singing, Dancing, Chatting, Rapping, Celebrating, Grieving, Teaching and Learning the plywood 1:50 scale model offered a detailed look at the proposed multi-purpose estate building and was exhibited without roof structures and breakaway elevations that meant that attendees could pore over its internal plan of layered spaces, assembly and meeting rooms.
This work was on display at the Main Galleries, Burlington House, London between 17 June to 17 August 2025
