In Summer 2026, our annual drawing school returned and we welcomed ten students at different stages of their architectural education into the studio for a week of tours, workshops and tutorials refining skills and knowledge.
For our third instalment, the school was opened to students entering either their third, fourth and fifth year of architectural studies in the 2026-27 academic cycle. With students joining from different universities, it was our most diverse cohort yet and ensured plenty of opportunities, making new connections and sharing perspectives and experiences.
The goal for the week was simple, to engage students in drawing by hand only and to encourage experimentation, with different tools and methods applied through a dwelling design task. This was supplemented by interactive workshops, seminars and a walking tour of our local East London neighbourhood, led by members of our studio team.
The mixed programme ensured a layered approach to building up housing knowledge, with the variety of approaches to typology, building regulations and drawing communication applied in professional practice shared with the group.
Students benefitted from being integrated within the studio, giving them access and insights into a professional practice environment, with wider support and development provided through staff tutorials and end-of-week presentations.
Thank you to everyone who took part!
