As part of the Public Housing Manifesto event at the Barbican Centre in 2024, we created a timeline of key moments in the history of philanthropic, public and social housing for the Architecture Foundation.
Originally compiled as part of our RIBA book on Social Housing as well as our Public Housing Works monograph, it is a small snapshot of our research and covers the key policy events, projects, highs and lows that have shaped affordable housing – for better or worse – in the UK over the past 180 years.
