Members of Hackney Council, CETRA (Colville Estate Tenants and Residents Association) and the design and construction teams attended a topping out ceremony for the first of two buildings which form Phase 3 of the Colville Estate project. Designed by Karakusevic Carson in collaboration with David Chipperfield Architects, the market sale apartments across the two tall buildings will help to cross-subsidise the creation of affordable homes on the rest of the estate.
Phillip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney, said:
“It was fantastic to celebrate this milestone in our work to build nearly 1,000 new homes on the Colville Estate – including hundreds of much-needed Council properties for social rent for local people. London is experiencing an unprecedented housing crisis, so I’m proud that we’re responding to the challenge with a new generation of high-quality housebuilding.”
