Members of Hackney Council, CETRA (Colville Estate Tenants and Residents Association) and the design and construction teams attended a topping out ceremony for the first of two buildings which form Phase 3 of the Colville Estate project. Designed by Karakusevic Carson in collaboration with David Chipperfield Architects, the market sale apartments across the two tall buildings will help to cross‑subsidise the creation of affordable homes on the rest of the estate.
Phillip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney, said:
“It was fantastic to celebrate this milestone in our work to build nearly 1,000 new homes on the Colville Estate – including hundreds of much-needed Council properties for social rent for local people. London is experiencing an unprecedented housing crisis, so I’m proud that we’re responding to the challenge with a new generation of high-quality housebuilding.”
