Kings Crescent Estate represents an alternative model to large-scale estate regeneration, demolition and rebuild. Informed by an extensive engagement programme with residents and strong collaboration with Hackney Council, the project is an example of future local-authority housing.
New and refurbished buildings are integrated to form robust courtyard blocks, combined with communal courtyard gardens and play spaces. The three new buildings which vary in height between 5 and 12 storeys are constructed from a simple palette of brick, concrete, steel and timber.
