Due for completion in early 2019, the new station will act as a catalyst for the Meridian Water masterplan (also designed by Karakusevic Carson Architects). The 82ha project for Enfield Council transforms an industrial and retail site in the Lee Valley into a new mixed-use district, creating 6,700 new jobs and 10,000 homes.
The new Meridian Water Station replaces the existing Angel Road Station, relocating it within the heart of the masterplan. Angel Road is currently situated in the middle of an industrial estate and is poorly served and difficult to access, making it London’s fourth quietest station. At just 17 minutes direct to Stratford, 24 minutes to Liverpool Street, 22 minutes to London City Airport and 43 minutes to Heathrow, the new station will provide a focus and gateway to an accessible, well-connected neighbourhood.
