Revolutionary Low Rise is a new research study exploring lessons for London’s growth through nine radical low-rise high-density case studies (LRHD) in the UK, USA and Europe.
Authored by Mike Althorpe and Abigail Batchelor at the studio, and supported by the RIBA Research Fund and Karakusevic Carson Architects, the research and publication has been created in response to emerging changes introduced as part of the draft London plan’s evaluation in Public (EIP). This EIP has put a new focus on the suburbs of outer London and uncouples development from numeric PTAL guidance and encourages local authorities to optimise rather than simply maximise housing densities.
